  3. I too have a fabulous place I would love to share. Hotel del Coronado in San Diego. The hotel is located at Coronado Island. A bridge takes you to this wonderful island. The Hotel has been around since Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe days. They filmed, "Some Like it Hot" at the del. The hotel is right on the beach. They have private villa's you can rent, beach front hotel rooms or in the victorian house. I have stayed in the victorian house and the beach front rooms. The beach front rooms are great, but I love the charm of the victorian house. There is a ghost that is also a resident at the victorian house. There is a book about the ghost. Her name is Kate Morgan and the name of the book is "Beautiful Stranger the Ghost of Kate Morgan and the Hotel del Coronado." There are testimonies of people witnessing strange occurrences and ghost figures. While staying at the del you can rent bicycles that seat a family of four. We loved to eat at, "Tent City" and sit outside it is the heart of the island. The hotel has entertainment on the beach or inside at the lounge. After, having an adventurous day with the kids it is nice to come to the del and have a cocktail and listen to the live entertainment. The del has a 5 star rating. My next review will include things to do while staying at the del.

  4. While staying at the del you are only 15 minutes from the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. Legoland is located 45 minutes away. The Midway right over the bridge (7minutes from the del) is a great place to take the kids and absolutely for the adults. There is retired air force crafts and ships that have been to Iraq, quite a hands-on place.
Balboa Park is only 10 minutes away and this includes museum alley, meaning there is one museum after another. A great place to go and inexpensive and you can make a day out of it. You are also only 10 minutes from downtown San Diego, which is a wonderful city.

  6. Yes it can be pricey, but they do have specials and they honor triple A and give triple A discounts. Off season discounts they do offer book one night and get one free. The del is worth the price!

  7. If anyone is going to NYC I highly recommend the Doubletree Hotel in Times Square. It is in an awesome location, comfortable, and a good deal for the area. A great choice!

  8. FYI on cruises for families...
Disney Cruise Line is expensive but worth it! We have always enjoyed all the activities offered even if we can't get to all of them! Never have we been disappointed by the staff, menus or ships. They have things to do for all ages. We are the type of family that does lots together, but not everything. Also, a big plus is that any excursions booked through them is kid appropriate. So no worries if the tour will go by the "whore-house" mosaic "menu" in Pompeii, Italy - they just avoid it! Phew!
Since our kids are now teens we thought we'd try a different cruise line. We were not thrilled with our Alaska cruise last summer on NCL. It was touted as being great for families (they have bowling lanes and a climbing wall) but really it's a floating bar. Not much going on other than babysitting for the little ones. The murder mystery dinner for teens was so badly planned that my teens left early. The food was passable at best and we are not fancy eaters.
